Leb I Sol ‎– Leb I Sol. Genre: Jazz, Rock. Style: Fusion, Jazz-Rock.

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music(19%). The first major shift in the carer of LEB I SOL occured immediately after the release of the third album "Rucni rad", when keyboardist Koki Dimusevski left the band. His replacement was Miki Petkovski, formerly of SMAK, but he also left after few months. They then decided to continue as a trio, without keyboards and started composing theatre soundtracks

Leb i sol ("Леб и Сол", English "Bread and Salt") is a Macedonian jazz fusion group founded in 1976 in Skopje. The original line-up was: Vlatko Stefanovski (guitar), Bodan Arsovski (bass guitar), Nikola Dimuševski (keyboards), and Garabet Tavitijan (drums). Their music combined elements of rock, jazz, and local ethnic music. After two successfull albums LEB I SOL decided not to repeat the formula but to go into a deeper exploration of jazz. For the third album they almost abandoned the lyrics and invited a saxophone guest for two tracks. Vocals are present but except "Lenja pesma", an excellent even semi-commercial hit at the time, they were utilized as an instrument. Dimusevski is more active than ever with his electric piano and plethora of synths, Stefanovski's guitar technique is brought to perfect here, while rhythm section of Tavitijan and Arsovski is impeccable as always.

Leb i sol (Macedonian: Леб и сол) is a Macedonian rock group founded in the 1970s by Vlatko Stefanovski (guitar), Bodan Arsovski (bass guitar), Nikola Kokan Dimuševski (keyboards) and Garabet Tavitjan (drums). Tavitjan ceded the drumwork to Dragoljub Đuričić for some of the albums, while Kiril Džajkovski replaced Kokan on Kao Kakao and Putujemo. Beside being the most eminent Macedonian band, they were also one of the most important acts of the former Yugoslav Rock scene.

Listen free to Leb i Sol – Leb i sol (Devetka, Pod vodom and more). In the first half of the seventies of the last century, the music scene in Skopje was rather small so the future members of the Leb i Sol often worked in same bands. The first more serious project Vlatko and Garo had, was with the jazz-rock band Breg which leader was Miki Petkovski. On 1st January 1976 Vlatko and Bodan founded Leb i Sol together with the keyboard player Kokan Dimushevski and the drum player Dimitrije Chochorovski

LEB I SOL recorded their debut album LEB I SOL 1 at the studio of RTV Novi Sad in September 1977. The jazz-rock themes with ethno influences dominate the album, and six themes out of nine are instrumental. All four of the members are composing, though Vlatko is the most productive on. .Devetka has one of the more memorable opening licks to a career, really nice stuff. It then starts to cross layer different guitar parts to a very nice effect, with the steady beat of Tavitijan keeping things perky. Leb I Sol ‎ "(∞)" 1981.
