Ghost began crafting their third studio album, the follow-up to 2013's Infestissumam, at the end of 2014. The impetus for its "futuristic" theme came to a Nameless Ghoul a month or so prior to starting the Infestissumam tour. While trying out a new guitar rig during a rehearsal, the Ghoul created a "spacey echoed" effect that made a guitar riff sound "futuristic sci-fi" A Nameless Ghoul said that, because guitar took a backseat on Infestissumam, the band focused on guitar riffs from the beginn.

Meliora album housed in a printed inner sleeve with lyrics and a band photo while the Popestar EP comes in a blank black sleeve. Black sticker with lime letters on cellophane: FEATURES GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING SINGLE "CIRICE" AND FIVE BONUS SONGS INCLUDING THE SINGLE "SQUARE HAMMER" AND FOUR COVER SONGS ORIGINALLY BY ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, EURYTHMICS, AND IMPERIET. Meliora skips multiple times, but Popestar plays fine. Sound quality could be better, but this is a digital release after all so that's expected. The EP is definitely the better in this set.

The album was produced by Klas Åhlund and released on August 21, 2015. Recently purchased the Newbury version for a Ebay seller. The coke bottle color looks amazing but the sound quality is terrible. The record would skip through tracks and the pitch was off on most tracks. Very disappointed.

Ghost was and still remains to be a neat group of aesthetic and fresh air in metal. They're not amazing, but they do as good of a job as they can. Meliora is maybe one of their better records and well worth a listen.

I'm just asking - not interested in selling - but, what would a box set signed by the entire band be valued at? Still sealed in the shrink. Only tear is where they peeled back to sign.

I've only not played them because I have so many other pressings to choose from. Figured it'd be the one box set I keep sealed up. I just wish they would reissue Zenith!!

The only record I've wanted to play is Zenith.. I've got something like 7 or 8 pressings of Meliora otherwise.

Wow that is very cool, don't know what it would be valued at. But I have seen unsigned boxsets around that were around the 300 dollar and they were also completely sealed so I guess something around that price maybe more because of the signing. Also, how do you not have the urge to play the records I think if I had the boxset I would have played them.

Bought direct from Newbury. Skipped non stop. Visible dimples on both sides. They sent a replacement, and it has the same problem. Wonky. Unfortunate.

Top press, I agree with previous comments the vinyl might be a bit warped but it is nothing serious I would say and to be honest, kinda normal for an LP that is not 180g. Anyway, it does not affect the sound at all, and speaking of it, what a marvel, it was a whole re-discovering experience to hear this with such an awesome mix, I had the redux version on CD already but this mix is just miles away in quality, warm and punchy low end. My copy had no cracks, no pops, just perfect plus an awesome artwork and package overall.

Just got it. Spinning for the very first time - sounds deep and vibrant. I'd say the color is lime yellow which is a nice surprise. Definietly looks way coller than the Purple Deep one :D

On my copy of this yellow edition the labels are mismatched. A is on B and B is n A. Anyone else?

Were these pressing errors ever corrected? I'd imagine not. It seems every single copy is scratched. Must have been an issue with the original plates.

Wow, just a plain white inner bag – no lyrics or booklet like the original LP from 2015. What gives, Newbury Comics?

It doesn't sound any better than the original 2015 Loma Vista LP, my copy of which never skipped. However, THIS pressing skipped at the very end of Side 2!

Quality of this pressing is terrible. Two records from Memphis Record Pressing (the company pressing Meloria) and both were warped bad enough to alter pitch during playback. Not only were they considerably warped, but the records had heavy brush like scratches and swirls all over the record; the records looks practically used.My first purchase was Ghost's Meliora. Upon discovering the warping, poor playback, and scuffs, I returned the album to the record store (The Sound Garden in Baltimore, MD). I exchanged it for the deluxe version of the same Ghost album. This double record edition suffered the same issues. Warping, poor playback, and considerable scuffs (also pressed by Memphis Record Pressing).I have albums from the 70s that play, look, and sound better than what I have received from here. I would suggest staying far away from anything pressed by this company. It's a shame as I really wanted to own this album on vinyl.

05/2018 I just picked up the deluxe version and both discs are completely flat and quiet as a CD. For being deluxe there are two black poly-lined inners but no lyrics, booklet or pictures of any kind. Both platters are close to perfect - maybe my copy is a second pressing and the quality issues are behind them?

Do you think that it's possible that something happened in shipping to your store or something happened in the store that caused the warping?

The darker grays aren't so much a 'misprint' as just variants from the pressing run no?

If you just want both sets on a new vinyl in a most affordable way this is a fine release. However, the lack of artwork is really annoying. At least the original Meliora back cover, Popestar front cover and the Meliora artwork booklet should have been included to make this a real gem.

Update: I upgraded my setup from the cheap Audio Technica to a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon and it doesn't skip any more.

Is there an estimate on the numbers of this misprint and/or the darker version?

Too bad this "Deluxe Edition" of Meliora is not so "deluxe" in its packagingIt isn't gatefold. It has heavy paper sleeves but the Popestar's one is completely black and no extras of any kind are included (a download coupon or a booklet would been appreciated, or even a printed sleeve with the Popestar's cover).I'm a little disappointed by this release, aestethically talking.

Is this pressing of Meliora the same as the smoke gray Hot Topic release? Does the smoke gray version skip, too?

This pressing, or at least my copy, sounds crystal clear on the first side. Possibly a little inner groove distortion, but on my setup it's barely noticeable. However, I am extremely disappointed in the second side's quality. On "Absolution," it skips unfortunately at a quiet section of the song making it extremely noticeable. This on its own wouldn't be too bad; disappointing, yes, but it's not the worst that could happen. No, sadly the last song is the worst skipping on a newer release of an album I've ever heard. I must have counted 20+ instances of skipping in succession, making the ending to a fantastic album basically unlistenable. I don't know if it's just my copy, so if anyone has had a similar experience with their copy I'd love to know.

Side 2 of my copy is defective also, a couple skips and the sound quality has gotten worse

That sucks and I'm almost sorry to say I've never had any issues with my copy, even on my old Crosley Cruiser (which is not what I normally use because it'll skip on many of my collection) this album still plays fine.

UPDATE: I upgraded my turntable from a Sony PS-LX300 to an AT-LP 120 and while this pressing may be a challenge on most lower end turntables, it plays fine on my new table.

I emailed Loma Vista two weeks ago and have not received a response. I bought this pressing TWICE and experienced the same results described in the review above. I broke down and ordered a clear yellow Scandenavian copy and it plays fine. The black vinyl US Loma Vista pressing is no good. I wash all records before they spin on my table.

Did you email the record company?? Also did you clean this record before playing? I never just throw a new record on my turntable. Every record I buy gets a wet/vac clean before I play it. Mandatory

My copy sounds good. Maybe you got one with some defects, unfortunately.

Just got my second copy from my local record store, standard black regular lp - the first one had major skips on Side A but not B, this one has major skips on multiple tracks on Side B. This is after wet washing it twice, making sure my needle was clean, and running an anti-static brush. No idea where Loma Vista got these pressed - but its a real shame considering how awesome this album is.

First copy I received had a crack on first track within the first minute. My replacement copy has the same crack, anyone else?

Hi guys, I have just bought mine (16/03/2017) in France and my copy seems in perfect condition!

I've returned two copies as they've all been super warped. I've checked some of the online forums and it appears that I'm not the only one.

I've messaged Loma Vista on Facebook and inquired into how many of these were pressed. They've been good at replying the past so we will see. Anyone have any ideas or info?

Does anyone know if there are mastering differences between the American and the European releases?

The Ghost- Meliora German Pre- Order Edition I can´t find here. This edition was released on black vinyl, with T-Shirt, booklet, 3x photographies in a in a sealed black envelope. The envelope is sealed with a Ghost-Signet on green sealing wax.

I ordered it by KingsRoad, but my version is on black vinyl!
