Native Sons (Loggins and Messina album). Native Sons is the sixth and final studio album (and seventh overall release) by singer/songwriter duo Loggins and Messina, released in January 1976. It was a departure from previous recordings owing to the presence of string sections, stronger emphasis on flute, minimized use of saxophone, downplayed country influences and Jim Messina's signature guitar work was barely in evidence

Loggins and Messina is the second album by singer/songwriters Loggins and Messina, released in 1972. Following on the success of their first album, this album built on the strengths of their debut outing. It also became the true introduction of the team, Loggins and Messina, not as singles playing together, but rather as a team that played as one. It featured two songs that charted, with "Your Mama Don't Dance" reaching its peak at their highest charting single

Loggins And Messina's fifth and last album of new studio material was also their least. No hit singles issued from a collection that featured a new backup band, and extensive use of strings on a set of mediocre material. L&M's breakup at the end of the tour promoting this record seemed confirmation that they had exhausted the possibilities of their partnership.

It was a departure from previous recordings owing to the presence of string sections, stronger emphasis on flute, minimized use of saxophone, downplayed country influences and Jim Messina's signature guitar work was barely in evidence. After a final concert in Hawaii, the duo quietly went their separate ways. The Messina-penned rock and roll song "Boogie Man" was later covered by Australian rock band The Blue Echoes
