That billing remained the same in 1965 although his approach, which up to now was more Doo-Wop, changed to Soul for Together At Last b/w the very definite Latino-tinged boogaloo Fine Foxey Frame as Duo Disc 117 (a West Coast label which spelled the group’s name as Dipper’s ). Other than that, the only other single shown George Torrence & The Dippers was the 1978 release Juanita (actual recording date unknown) which came out as King Tut 170 b/w a track by The Clovers, For Sentimental Reasons

David Torrence (November 26, 1985 – August 28, 2017) was a Peruvian-American middle-distance runner and indoor American record holder in the 1000 meters (active). Born in Okinawa, Japan, Torrence was raised in Tarzana, California. After graduating from Loyola High School in 2003, he went on to run for the University of California, Berkeley and Hoka One One. Torrence represented Peru at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Following the session with Playboy, John has another haircut and, along with Yoko, boards a plane for Los Angeles where they have arranged to meet George and Derek Taylor at Monty Python’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl. George gives John a copy, on audio cassette, of his latest album. Following the show, George remains in LA while John and Yoko return to New York, arriving back in the early hours of September 29.

Together at Last, which promises to be the first in a series of solo efforts from the singer, assembles 11 tracks from across Tweedy’s expansive back catalog and strips them down to their bare acoustic bones. With no one to turn or pass the spotlight to (save for longtime Wilco engineer Tom Schick), Tweedy settles in for some quality time with his own songs, including some originally recorded with side projects Loose Fur and Golden Smog. Star Wars, released in 2015, is full of moments as sonically out of bounds as its title implies. The beat on Tweedy is that of a playful, wily musical maverick backed by one of the most prodigiously talented bands in the land. But to focus solely on this is to ignore what kind of songwriter he truly is at heart. Uncle Tupelo, Golden Smog, and early Wilco records revealed Tweedy to be a boozy, heartbroken balladeer.

The genius of At Last. The Duets Album is in its matchups and cross-pollinations. If producer Walter Afanasieff weren't already a much sought after music man-check out his arrangements here if his talents are unfamiliar-he might have built a brilliant career as a modern-day cupid.
