Harry James And His Orchestra 1948-49 is a double album by American trumpeter Harry James with The Harry James Orchestra. The album consists of live radio transcripts recorded during 1948 and 1949 and was released in 1969 by Big Band Landmarks (Volumes X-XI). As bop surpassed swing by the late 1940s, James was surprisingly open to its influence.

You saw me crying in the chapel The tears I shed were tears of joy I know the meaning of contentment Now I am happy with the Lord. Now I'm happy in the chapel Where people are of one accord We gather in the chapel Just to sing and praise the Lord. Take your troubles to the chapel Get down on your knees and pray Your burdens will be lighter And you'll surely find the way. Enviar la traducción Agregar a la playlist Tamaño.
Among the ten tracks are the original versions of their two chart-topping hits, "Tell Me So" (1948) and "Crying in the Chapel" (1953), along with lesser-heard items such as "Waiting," "Trust in Me," "I Cover the Waterfront," and "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me," a Top Ten hit for singer Mel Carter in the early '60s. Even though their first number one hit from 1948, "It's Too Soon to Know," is absent, this is an enjoyable and effective overview.
Crying in the Chapel" is a song written by Artie Glenn for his son Darrell to sing. Darrell recorded it while still in high school in 1953, along with Artie's band the Rhythm Riders. The song was rejected by Hill and Range Songs and Acuff-Rose Music. It was finally reissued and documented on CD on the album Selassie Is the Chapel (JAD Records, 1997), as part of the Complete Bob Marley & the Wailers 1967 to 1972 series produced by Bruno Blum and Roger Steffens. A vinyl single was also released by JAD in 2002. The recording was reissued on that single along with the original Mortimo Planno-voiced flip side, Rastafarian cult song "A Little Prayer" as well as on the 2002 four CD Marley Rebel anthology set released in France only and deleted in 2003.
