The Greatest Generation is the fourth studio album by pop punk band The Wonder Years. The album was produced by Steve Evetts, who produced their last album, Suburbia I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing. The Greatest Generation Q&A.

The Greatest Generation is an album about growing up. While many pop punk bands are lyrically obsessed with high school romance and leaving home, The Wonder Years break these genre stereotypes. The songs found on this record are about becoming an adult and finding one’s post-adolescence self. The lyrics found here by Dan Campbell are brutally honest and sincere. These lyrics are one of the album’s strongest points, giving listeners a variety of relatable topics. From the first song to the last, Campbell’s vocal and lyrical performance is genuine and energetic.

The Wonder Years have come a long, long way since then. According to lead vocalist Dan Campbell, The Upsides, Suburbia and The Greatest Generation all tell a tale of a bittersweet life story. The Upsides is all about life before and after college, Suburbia is about the tragic tales of Suburban life and The Greatest Generation is about, well, life itself. The Greatest Generation is not as hard hitting as Suburbia or The Upsides, and because the band have been pumping out their almost 'emo' style for two previous albums, it is surely expected that The Wonder Years will eventually just. But The Greatest Generation is a fantastic ending to their previous album ethoi. 1 of 1 users found this helpful.

The red first press of this album has two different colors due to manufacturing variations. The album was first available for preorder the red option was advertised as a pressing limited to 1,200. During the preorder time frame Hopeless Records increased the pressing quantity to 3,000. Those that preordered generally received a vinyl record that was opaque red in appearance. Others that purchased the red first pressing in brick and mortar stores, pop up shops, merch tables, and even a few of the preorder customers received a vinyl record that was translucent orange in appearance. Hopeless Records has approximated the pressing quantities at 1,200 for the opaque red and 1,800 for the translucent orange.

All single LP versions of this record are known to have audio quality issues, specifically unusually low volume and excess surface noise. The quality issues are caused by attempting to press approximately 49 minutes worth of music on a single LP. These audio issues led to the album being pressed on double LP variants beginning in 2015.
