Judy in Disguise (With Glasses)" is a song that was a hit for the Louisiana-based John Fred & His Playboy Band in late 1967. The song was jointly written and composed by Fred and bandmate Andrew Bernard. The song features strings, brass, a sitar, piano, bass, guitar, drums, breathing sounds, and dissonant string sounds. Its title is a play on, and a mondegreen of, the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

John Fred and the Playboy Band were a great group of professionals and had a very tight band. Judy in Disquise" knocked the Beatles out of the number one spot on the charts. But since "Judy" was a novelty song no one would take the band serious. My first exposure to John Fred and his Playboy Band was in June, 1966 when I was 13 years old and they were the opening act for Herman's Hermits at a concert in New Orleans' City Park Stadium. They started out with a blistering version of Sam & Dave's "Hold On I'm Coming" and then launched into their original material.

Judy in disguise, hey that's what you are A-lemonade pies, hey got your brand new car Cantaloupe eyes come to me tonight Your Judy in disguise, with glasses. Judy in disguise, well what you aiming for A-circus of a-horrors, yeh yeh, well that's what you are You make me a life of ashes I guess I'll just take your glasses. Writer(s): JOHN FRED, ANDREW BERNARD.

Judy in disguise for Lucy in the Sky. Fits pretty well, right? That’s intentional. John Fred heard The Beatles’ hit song and was convinced John Lennon was singing Judy in the Sky with Diamonds. Since Fred was obviously wrong (he confirmed his misheard lyric when he consulted the lyrics and back sleeve of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band), it was clear he had to take matters into his own hands.

In 1967, John Fred and fellow band member Andrew Bernard co-wrote the . hit "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)", allegedly a parody of The Beatles' song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Besides the two aformentioned members, the sprawling group included Ronnie Goodson, Charlie Spinosa, Jimmy O'Rourke, Harold Cowart, Tommy Degeneres, Hal Ellis, Billy Johnson, and Lester Dodge.
