Yeti is the second studio album by German rock band Amon Düül II, first released in April 1970 on Liberty (Germany: LBS 83359/60 X; United Kingdom: LSP 101) as a double LP. The album was produced by Olaf Kübler and Amon Düül II, and engineered by Willy Schmidt, "with a little help of Siegfried E. Loch".

The second album by Amon Düül II (not to be confused with the more anarchic radicals Amon Düül), 1970's Yeti, is their first masterpiece, one of the defining early albums of Krautrock. A double album on vinyl, Yeti consists of a set of structured songs and a second disc of improvisations. It's testament to the group's fluidity and improvisational grace that the two albums don't actually sound that different from each other, and that the improvisational disc may actually be even better than the composed disc.

The politically-charged Amon Duul II enjoyed a relative success after the release of their debut album Phallus Dei. At the turn of the 70's, the band released their sophomore effort Yeti, which has grown to become one of audience's favorties and a classic krautrock record. The sound of Yeti is strongly rooted in psychedelia.

Like its namesake mythical creature, Amon Duul II's YETI is . .Full Descriptiongigantic, threatening, and elusive beast that will easily trample listeners underfoot. Following up the epic PHALLUS DEI, YETI finds the Krautrock offshoot codifying their terrifyingly feral improvisations across four album sides of loud, psychedelic excess and dotting the fried landscape with a loose songcraft. But for the closing Sandoz In The Rain, AD II is joined by AD1 members and the resulting track sounds very much like the Paradieswärts Düül album of the other section of the commune. BTW: Sandoz is the name of the pharmaceutical labs that developed the LSD. With its light folky acoustic feel and a cool flute, Sandoz is Yeti's third highlight and a charming closer. Yes, ADII had managed to top their debut album, but it was a tough task, needing a double disc to manage it.

Including both short songs and longer, improvisational tracks, British avant-garde music magazine The Wire describes Yeti as "one of the cornerstones of both Amon Düül's career and the entire Krautrock movement. Note: The cover was designed by the band's organist, Falk.
