Henry Wilfrid Brambell (22 March 1912 – 18 January 1985) was an Irish television and film actor and comedian, best known for his role in the television series Steptoe and Son. He also performed alongside the Beatles in their film A Hard Day's Night, playing the fictional grandfather of Paul McCartney.

Steptoe and Son actor Wilfrid Brambell last night became the latest BBC star accused of child sex abuse. Two men claimed the late actor molested them when they were children in Jersey in the early 1970s. He was named following the scandal engulfing the corporation over the reign of abuse carried out by Jimmy Savile. Allegations: Wilfred Brambell, pictured in 1971, has been accused of abusing two young boys in Jersey. The actor, who played Albert Steptoe, is accused of attacking the boys in a back room at a theatre.

Steptoe and Son. Scriptwriters Galton and Simpson, who had been successful with Hancock's Half Hour, changed Corbett's life. In 1962, at their request, Corbett appeared in "The Offer", an episode of the BBC's anthology series of one-off comedy plays, Comedy Playhouse, written by Galton and Simpson. After the Steptoe and Son series officially finished, Corbett played the character again on radio (in a newly written sketch in 1978), as well as in a television commercial for Kenco coffee The Curse of Steptoe, a BBC TV play about Corbett and Brambell, was broadcast on 19 March 2008 on the British television channel BBC Four, featuring Jason Isaacs as Corbett.
